DELI to hear from former Italian PM Enrico Letta

The first event from the Dublin European Law Institute for the new academic year will take place in person at The Helix, DCU, on 23 September, from 1:45pm to 3:30pm.

Entitled 'The Savings and Investments Union and the EU Competitiveness Agenda' the event will feature a keynote speech by Enrico Letta (former Prime Minister of Italy, and author of the report ‘Much More than a Market). 

This is an official associated event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU, which has identified competitiveness as one of its three key priorities.

The event, which is also a multiplier event of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence COMPETE, is sponsored by Banking & Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) and McCann FitzGerald LLP.

The event will be opened by Dr Gëzim Visoka, the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences executive dean.

After the keynote speech by Enrico Letta will feature a high-level policy roundtable with:

  • Prof Bruno de Witte (Professor of EU Law, Maastricht University),
  • Brian Hayes (Banking & Payments Federation Ireland),
  • Clare Gillett (partner, McCann FitzGerald LLP), and
  • Dr Christy Ann Petit (Assistant Professor of European Banking and Finance Law, DCU).

The session will moderated by Dr Niall Moran (Assistant Professor of Economic Law and Deputy Director of the Institute).
