One-day course on retirement planning

A one-day course on retirement planning for legal practitioners will take place in Portlaoise, Co Laois, later this month.

Law Society Skillnet is organising the event, which takes place at the Midlands Park Hotel on Friday 17 April (10am to 5.30pm).

Five CPD hours by group study are available from attendance – one client care and professional standards, one general, and three professional development and solicitor wellbeing. Registration is still open.

Different options

The one-day course aims to guide legal practitioners on how to successfully plan for retirement. Topics include:

  • A brief overview of retirement and its significance in one's life,
  • Why retirement planning is crucial,
  • Different retirement options,
  • Movement, mobility, and independence for the future,
  • Prepare your mind for retirement,
  • Regulation: what to do when you close your firm, and
  • Tax and retirement.

The speakers are:

  • Mike O’Reilly (principal, O’Reilly Business Solutions),
  • Maggie Mulpeter (retired solicitor, relationship and parent mentor, public speaker, and group facilitator),
  • Sarah Keogh (founder, Eatwell),
  • Liam Barrett (solicitor, Law Society regulation department), and
  • Michael O’Scathaill (director, taxation, Crowe).
