The Local Authority Solicitors Bar Association (LASBA) summer conference, hosted by Cork County Council, will be held on Friday 29 May this year.
The venue is Council Chambers at County Hall, Carrigrohane, Cork and the event will run from 9.30am-4pm.
The opening address will be given by Dorothy Kennedy (LASBA president).
At 10.30am, Donnchadh McCarthy BL will speak on the Civil Reform Bill 2025.
Cormac O’Regan (executive solicitor, Cork County Council) will then speak on data protection and data breaches.
At 12.30pm Shane O’Connor (solicitor, Ronan Daly Jermyn) will speak about construction law, touching on procurement.
Loraine Lynch (head of finance, Cork County Council) will then speak on the application of RCT to contracts and multi-unit developments.
Rates legislation
After lunch, there will be comprehensive overview of recent amendments to rates legislation, focusing on the Local Government Rates & Other Matters Act 2019 and the Historic and Archaeological Heritage and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023, by Patricia Murphy (senior executive solicitor) and Michelle McRae (executive solicitor Cork County Council).
The final session is on ‘Triggers and Boundaries in Professional Life’ and the speaker is relationship and parent mentor Maggie Mulpeter.
The cost is €200 to include lunch.
