Arthur Cox newly-qualified lawyers sweep prizes

Over 60 new solicitors received their parchments at a Blackhall Place ceremony last night (6 March).

The Overend Prize (2021) for F-E1s was awarded to Adrianna Keenan (Arthur Cox LLP) while the Company Law Prize (2021) for F-E1s went to Adrianna Keenan (Arthur Cox LLP).

The F-E1 Constitutional Law Prize (2021) was awarded to Conor White, also of Arthur Cox, while the Law Society Skills Prize (2023) Professional Practice Course also went to Conor White.

The Law Society Conveyancing Prize (2021 PPC) for the highest mark in applied land law went to Michael McNamee, also of Arthur Cox LLP.

The Law Society Conveyancing Prize (2021 PPC) for the second highest mark in applied land law went to Jonathan Guy of Arthur Cox.

The Restructuring and Insolvency Ireland RII Prize for the insolvency elective (2021 PPC) was presented by Andrea Brennan (Simmons & Simmons Ireland) to Ruth McCormack, also of Arthur Cox LLP.

Guest speaker Rose Wall of Community Law and Mediation urged the new solicitors to use their legal knowledge to challenge injustice and effect social change.

Challenges

Law affected every aspect of our lives, she said, and could be used to address societal and environmental challenges.

Law Society President Eamon Harrington said that the new solicitors should value their support networks of family and friends, since the law was a rewarding but challenging career, and practising it well required wide support and collegiality.

He urged respect for colleagues, even when representing clients vigorously.

He also asked the new solicitors to remain involved in their Law Society, noting the professional and personal benefits of so doing.
