Philip Lee sets up financial-services practice

Law firm Philip Lee has announced a partnership with Aquest Advisory that will set up a new practice offering legal advice on financial services and investment funds.

Aquest Advisory offers training, advisory, and preparatory services for the Irish financial-services industry.

Philip Lee says that the practice will offer advice on a wide range of matters relevant to the financial-services industry.

These will include asset management, investment funds, fund-service providers, investment firms, payment services, fintech, digital assets, crypto-asset service providers, EIIS (Employment and Investment Incentive Scheme), and intermediaries.

Philip Lee says that the venture enhances its ability to address the requirements of clients both within Ireland and internationally.

Central Bank experience

It cites figures estimating that the Irish funds industry, combining Irish-domiciled and foreign-domiciled funds administered in Ireland, is worth more than €5 trillion.

The new team will be led by Daniel Lawlor of Aquest Advisory, who has more than 20 years’ experience in financial-services regulation and compliance, gained first in private practice and then as a securities regulator for seven years in the Central Bank of Ireland.

Lawlor will also continue in his role as managing director of Aquest Advisory.

“This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that delivers practical, commercially focused advice to clients navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape,” said Lawlor.

Jonathan Kelly (managing partner, Philip Lee) described the launch of the financial-services and investment-funds practice as “a natural progression” for the firm as it continued to grow and diversify.
