Courts site's new pages on licensing process
The Courts Service says that the newly published licensing pages on its website are aimed at making the information more accessible and easier to understand.
The service’s civil-reform team has developed the new sections on Courts.ie as part of its modernisation programme.
The courts body says that the work focused on ensuring that the new information is comprehensive, written in plain English, and aligned with court rules.
Applications
The new information sets out:
- What licensing in the courts refers to,
- What applications are made in the District Court and Circuit Court,
- The process involved, and the proofs required,
- What happens at the annual licensing court,
- How to object to the renewal of a licence,
- What the licensing register is, and
- How to search the licensing register.
The courts team engaged with a broad range of court users to develop this information – including Courts Service staff, members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, garda members, and other user groups.
