Louth District Court areas to be amalgamated

The District Court areas of Drogheda, Dundalk, and Ardee are to be amalgamated into one court area of Louth from 1 September.

A statutory instrument making the change has now been signed after approval by the board of the Courts Service.

The court area of Louth will cover all the electoral divisions currently covered by Drogheda, Dundalk, and Ardee.

The Courts Service says that the number of days and sittings days each month remains unchanged.

Documentation

It has also advised that, From 1 September, all documentation lodged to the court office must state ‘District Court Area of Louth District No 6’.

Any documentation referring to District Court areas of Dundalk, Ardee, or Drogheda will be returned unprocessed.

“Business transacted in the District Court that is initiated and not completed before commencement of this order shall be continued and completed as if this order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated,” the courts body adds.
