Young lawyers’ groups team up for seminar

The Law Society’s Younger Members Committee is teaming up with the Young Bar Committee of the Bar of Ireland to host a seminar on briefing practices.

‘Briefing 2.0: Maximising the solicitor-barrister relationship’ will take place at the Gaffney Room in the Distillery Building, Church Street, Smithfield, Dublin 7, on 29 February (4.30-6.30pm).

Solicitors embarking on their careers will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights from barristers on what constitutes a high-quality brief.

Similarly, barristers will hear directly from solicitors about their expectations when responding to a brief.

Networking opportunities

Panellists include Valerie Hourigan (partner, ByrneWallace), who will provide the solicitor’s perspective, and Shane English BL, who will offer insights from the barrister’s standpoint.

The event will be chaired by Mr Justice Liam Kennedy, with welcome addresses delivered by Maeve Delargy (chair, Law Society Younger Members Committee) and Declan Harmon BL (chair, Young Bar of Ireland).

The evening kicks off with a welcome reception at 4.30pm in the Sheds, with the main event starting at 5pm. There will also be refreshments and networking opportunities after the seminar.

Registration is now open for the event.
