Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Seán Scally as partner and head of energy in the firm’s Dublin office.

Scally has 15 years’ experience advising clients (developers, lenders, sponsors) on the development and financing of energy and infrastructure assets (conventional and renewable energy assets, data centres, telecoms, infrastructure, and PPPs).

He also advises buyers and sellers on the acquisition and disposal of these types of large-scale energy and infrastructure assets, and specialises in electricity and gas-market regulation and trading.

Medical-device industry

Before working in the legal sector, Scally completed his degree in mechanical engineering and worked in the medical-device industry.

He said: “As companies continue to grow their footprint in Ireland, the energy sector remains vibrant, resulting in a notable uplift in activity.”

Managing partner Alan Connell said: “We are seeing an increased demand from clients for alternative and renewable energy, closely aligned with ESG requirements.

“To date, we have worked with several providers on energy-financing projects, particularly renewables,” he said
