LSRA hosts international regulators in Dublin

The Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) is hosting the two-day International Conference of Legal Regulators (ICLR), which opened this morning (26 October) in Dublin.

At the annual event, now in its 12th year, more than 100 legal regulators from around the world gather to share experiences and good practices, explore trends and themes, and network.

As a member of the legal regulators’ network, the LSRA is hosting this year’s conference, which takes place in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire.

The theme of the conference is ‘The Future of Legal Regulation – Navigating the Decade Ahead’.

Speakers include regulators, academics, practitioners and experts in a range of fields – including artificial intelligence (AI), access to justice and ethics in the legal profession.

Challenges

Speakers include Mr Justice David Barniville (President of the High Court), Dr Catherine Day (former EU secretary general of the European Commission) and Kathryn Stone OBE (chair of the Bar Standards Board of England and Wales).

The head of Law Society Psychological Services, Antoinette Moriarty is also speaking at the event.

LSRA Chief Executive Dr Brian Doherty said: “We have so much to learn from each other about internal and external challenges facing legal regulators in a post-pandemic world, as well as possible strategies and solutions.

“Change is the theme of this year’s event, and there are many common issues we face arising from evolving legal landscapes, emerging regulatory demands and fresh demands on the lawyer of tomorrow.”
