June event for solicitors in Limerick and Clare

Solicitors in Limerick and Clare will have the opportunity to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice at an in-person event on Thursday 1 June.

The Limerick 2023 Essential Solicitor Update is organised by Law Society Skillnet, in association with Clare Bar Association and Limerick Bar Association.

This year’s event takes place at The Strand Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick, and runs from 10am to 5.30pm. Attendance offers six CPD hours.

The aim is to offer practitioners an opportunity to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice, and to provide an update on these areas from experienced practitioners and expert speakers.

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and an evening drinks reception.

Topics and speakers

The topics to be covered include:

  • A practical guide to the new legislation on assisted decision-making,
  • Family-law update,
  • Coercive control: a criminal-law matter,
  • Recent developments in residential tenancies,
  • Recent probate changes,
  • Cyber-insurance,
  • A guide to advertising regulations – including advertising on social media and on websites,
  • Opportunities for the profession and the legal-services market – including attracting and retaining staff, and identifying possible successors to your practice.

The event will be chaired by:

  • Pamela Clancy (President Clare Bar Association, and partner at Cashin Clancy Solicitors),
  • Julianne Kiely (President Limerick Bar Association, and partner at Kiely McCarthy Solicitors).
