The Law Society has extended the closing date for solicitors to complete an anonymous survey that forms part of a consultation process on a new strategic review.

The process will assist the Society in the development of its 2024-2028 strategy.

The new deadline for completing the survey, which was issued on 19 April, is Friday 5 May 2023.

Through this initial consultation, those on the Roll of Solicitors and current trainee solicitors in Ireland are invited to share their views on the development of the Law Society's new strategy .

The current Strategy Statement for the Law Society expires in December 2023.

Opportunity to contribute

The President of the Law Society Maura Derivan said: "The Law Society and the solicitors' profession play a key role in society, working to provide access to justice and to protect the rights of citizens.

"In this context, this multi-phased strategic review will help the Law Society to set a clear direction for the next five years that will contribute to a positive, progressive and open justice system, which is necessary in the public interest.

"At this early stage of the consultation process, we encourage all practicing solicitors and trainee solicitors to share their views on the challenges faced by the profession, and the opportunities to embrace an evolving globalized environment.

"This is the opportunity for solicitors, who work in every community in Ireland, to contribute to the development of the largest branch of the legal profession and the Law Society, and to ensure access to justice and the protection of the rights of our people into the future."

From 19 April, solicitors in Ireland have received an email from the Law Society's survey partner, Behaviour & Attitudes, with a link to complete the survey by Friday 5 May.

The subject line is 'Law Society Survey – B&A Research', and the email comes from the sender info@bandasurvey.ie.

The survey will take 10-12 minutes to complete – the answers submitted are anonymous and secure.
