Kelly steps down from IRLI to remain in Ukraine

Aonghus Kelly, executive director of Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI), is stepping down from the role.

Aonghus Kelly has been supporting the prosecution of international crimes with the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine while on sabbatical there.

He has decided to remain in Ukraine to continue this valuable work.

Wishing him well in his role, IRLI described Aonghus as a “driving force behind the success of IRLI”, adding: “His leadership and commitment to justice and human rights have set a high bar."

Gratitude

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to Aonghus for his outstanding leadership, and wish him all the best with his important work with EUAM Ukraine.”

IRLI has announced that James Douglas will be taking over as executive director, saying: “With vast experience in human rights law, James has been with us as director of programmes of IRLI since 2020 and has already made significant contributions to our work.”
