Courts Service warning on fraudulent calls

The Courts Service says that members of the public have been receiving fraudulent calls claiming to be from a number associated with the courts body.

The calls are in relation to tax owed that must be paid immediately.

“We are aware that the fraudulent phone calls appear to be from a number associated with the Criminal Courts of Justice,” the Courts Service said.

It added that the Criminal Courts of Justice would never ring anybody asking for credit card details.

The courts body has issued advice to anyone receiving such a call:

  • Do not engage with the caller, and
  • Do not share any part of your PPS Number, credit-card details, bank-account details, or any other personal information, with them.
