A total of 35,000 free Interrail passes will be made available to 18-year-old residents of the EU this year under the DiscoverEU arm of the Erasmus+ programme.

There will be two application rounds this year, and successful applicants will be awarded with a travel pass.

Teens from third countries associated with the Erasmus+ Programme, such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye, may also apply.

Successful applicants will receive a DiscoverEU European Youth Card giving discounts on cultural visits, learning activities, sports, local transportation, accommodation, and food.

More than 200,000 young people have been awarded a travel pass since the first application round in June 2018.

The next round will take place between 15-29 March.

To be eligible, you need to:

  • Complete the correct identity card (ID), passport or legal residence card number on the online application form,
  • Be a citizen or legal resident of the EU, including Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) and third countries,
  • Answer quiz questions.

Applicants with a disability or health problem will receive assistance. Groups of up to four may apply together.
