SADSI team takes Irish Times debating prize

Ross Merriman and Conor White from the Solicitors’ Apprentice Debating Society of Ireland (SADSI) have taken the team prize at the grand final of the Irish Times Debate competition.

The individual speaker’s award went to Bevin Armstrong from UCD LawSoc, with SADSI’s Pierce Lyons also a finalist.

The grand final of the event was held on Friday evening (11 March) at UCC.

Glynn chaired debate

The winning SADSI team argued for the motion, which was: “This House believes that the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that Ireland is not up to the challenges of the 21st century.”

The deputy chief medical officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, was chair at the event, which was hosted by UCC’s Philosophy Society.
