Be on alert: fake email in circulation to members

Members of the profession are asked to be wary of a fake email which is in circulation this morning (4 March).

The email, purporting to come from the Law Society, refers to a Special General Meeting next Friday. 

The email originates from a hacked or spoofed Law Library address. 

Do not open

The Law Society has received a number of calls this morning from solicitors querying this email, which has an attachment pdf called ‘Important notification from the Law Society’. Do not open this attachment.

An alert has been sent out on all Law Society social-media channels, and a notice has been posted on the website.

If any member of the profession receives a copy of this email, please delete it immediately. 

Please also advise any members who contact you regarding it to delete the email immediately.
