McCann FitzGerald LLP has named Deirdre Barnicle as a consultant to the firm in the financial-services tax practice.
Barnicle advises clients on complex tax matters, and the Irish tax aspects of key transactions.
Graduating with a degree in business and law from University College Dublin in 2001, Barnicle joined McCann FitzGerald in 2004 as a trainee solicitor, and went on to also qualify as a chartered tax adviser.
She advises on corporation tax, income tax, VAT, stamp duty, withholding taxes, and compliance.
Barnicle also leads the provision of services by the firm to domestic and international clients in connection with Irish tax-compliance obligations across all tax heads, direct and indirect.
Tax partner Alan Heuston welcomed the appointment, and said that the firm’s tax-disputes practice had seen significant growth in complex cases
“Deirdre is also leading in the automatic exchange of information area, which is of ever-increasing importance to our clients as they become aware of their obligations,” he said.
