Calcutta Run proceeds presented to charities

The Law Society has presented a cheque to its charity partners after the 23rd annual Calcutta Run, which took place virtually in September.

President Michelle Ní Longáin (small picture) met the Peter McVerry Trust and the Hope Foundation at the annual cheque handover ceremony, which took place last week at the Society’s headquarters in Blackhall Place.

The solicitors’ profession has raised €500,000 for the Calcutta Run since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This figure brings the total amount raised over the last 23 years, to help fight homelessness in Dublin and Kolkata, to €4.8 million.

Organised by the Society, the Calcutta Run took place virtually – for the second time – from 17 September to 26 September.
