Go west: Law Society Council to meet in Westport

The Law Society will hold its 24 September Council meeting in Westport, Co Mayo, at 11am.

Law Society President James Cahill (pictured), who hails from Mayo, will host the day’s events.

The venue for the Council meeting will be the Town Hall in Westport. Lunch will follow at the Castlecourt Hotel and Westport Plaza Hotel – both on Castlebar Street, Westport.

After lunch, a complimentary, in-person CPD event will be on offer. The CPD topic will focus on recently published precedents and guidelines by the Law Society’s Legal Services Regulation Act Task Force, dealing with compliance with Section 150 of the act.

All work and no play…

A boat tour of Clew Bay leaving from Mayo Sailing Club will follow, and the day will conclude with a music session and buffet meal.

The Law Society’s annual Calcutta Run event, which fundraises for the Peter McVerry Trust and The Hope Foundation, will be taking place from 17 - 26 September, so members of the Council are being encouraged to take part by exercising on the Mayo Greenway (which runs from Westport to Achill).

Council members who wish to attend should register with by email with g.ralph@lawsociety.ie.
