Sligo solicitors are set to hammer out settlements in personal injury cases off their own bat.
A settlement forum will be attended by both solicitors and the Bar later this month.
In response to restricted court sittings, the county’s legal practitioners have arranged a settlement meeting at the Radisson hotel, Rosses Point Road, Ballincar, Co Sligo, from 27-28-29 July.
These off-site initiatives have been encouraged by Courts Service executives, as well as senior judiciary, in recent weeks.
The organising practitioners had considered using court buildings for the settlement forum but were told that this would not be possible under current restrictions.
All Government health-and-safety guidelines will be adhered to during the three-day settlement forum.
All those attending will be asked to make a contribution toward the cost of hiring the room.
Bar associations in Sligo, Donegal, Mayo, Leitrim and Roscommon have all been notified about the settlement forum.
