Family law solicitor Niamh Kennedy is now a partner at Denis McSweeney Solicitors in Herbert Place, Dublin 2.
With the firm for thirteen years, the Portmarnock native holds a Law Society Diploma in Family Law and has built up the firm’s thriving family law practice.
Niamh Kennedy said that while young newly qualified solicitors – the majority of whom are now women – often believe the path to success lies with one of the big six law firms, this is not always the case.
“Mid-sized firms like Denis McSweeney can often provide a range of experience, an excellent working environment, opportunities for advancement, and a quality of life which the big firms simply cannot match,” she commented.
“I joined this firm because I knew it was an expanding commercial firm whose core areas included company law, property law, commercial litigation, employment law and family law.
“I tried my hand at a couple of areas before deciding that family law was the one for me.”
She said it was a huge plus to work in a firm where ten of the fourteen practising solicitors are women and where no gender pay gap exists.
“This positions the firm well to advise external clients on employment law matters”, Niamh Kennedy said.
