The European Young Bar Association has organised an international weekend in London from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 September.
The weekend is an annual event put together with the Junior Lawyers’ Division of the Law Society of England and Wales, the Young Barristers’ Committee of the Bar Council, and the London Young Lawyers’ Group.
Delegates are offered a mix of seminars at the Law Society, an exciting social programme and an introduction to the city.
Day events and seminars are aimed at both international and British junior lawyers. The conference will culminate with a gala dinner on the Saturday night.
The programme begins with a welcome reception at 6pm at The Curtain, Shoreditch, on 26 September.
Registration at the Law Society (113 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1PL) begins at 9.30am the following morning.
There will be a tour of the Commercial Court at 7 Rolls Building, Fetter Lane, and an address from the Chancellor of the High Court, Sir Geoffrey Vos.
Lunch will be followed by an opportunity to sit with a civil or criminal judge at Southwark Courts, and a social event that evening.
On Saturday 28 September, the seminar at the Chancery Lane Law Society building will hear an address on the bullying and harassment report of the International Bar Association.
Lucinda Acland will speak about 100 years of women practising in the law. Lunch and an oratory competition will be followed by a talk on cross-border work and a speech on the art of negotiation.
The black-tie gala dinner will be held at the Law Society’s building.
On Sunday, the EYBA will hold its annual general meeting. More details and a full programme can be viewed at internationalweekend.mystrikingly.com
