Litigation seminar will examine periodic payments

This autumn’s Law Society litigation annual conference will feature a keynote speech from Chief Justice Frank Clarke, who will chair the event.

Designed in collaboration with members of the Law Society’s Litigation Committee, the seminar will deal with topical issues including a PI and discovery update.

Practitioners will gain an overview of recent and on-going developments in litigation practice from a practical perspective.   

Topics to be covered:

  • Periodic payment orders legislation/comparison with lump sums,
  • Updates in PI,
  • Discovery: recent developments and the current recast position. 

Confirmed speakers are:

  • Michael Boylan, (Partner, Michael Boylan, Dublin) a specialist in medical negligence who has lectured and written extensively on the topic and has recently published a book on medical negligence law.
  • Stuart Gilhooly, (Partner, HJ Ward & Co. Solicitors, Dublin) who has practised in the area of personal injuries claims since 1995, acting exclusively for claimants. Stuart Gilhooly was voted Solicitor of the Year in 2018 at the Irish Law Awards.
  • Joe O’Malley, (Partner, Hayes Solicitors, Dublin), who handles a wide variety of commercial litigation matters for the State, financial institution and corporate clients and also advises on media law issues.
