All members of the Law Society of Ireland now have a chance to consider running for the Council as nomination forms are distributed by post.
By joining the Law Society of Ireland Council, members can play an important role in shaping and developing the future of the solicitors’ profession.
The Council governs the Law Society and comprises 31 elected members, four provincial delegates and 13 nominated members.
Under the byelaws, at least six Council meetings are held annually. Meetings discuss a variety of matters important to the profession including reports from committees, working groups and task forces, and selecting Society representatives.
The closing date for candidates’ nominations for the 2019 election is Monday 16 September at 5 pm.
Candidates must be nominated by two members, and one member cannot nominate more than two candidates. For nomination forms, visit the Council Elections page.
Close of poll for the election to Council is 31 October at 5pm, with the election count due to take place on 1 November.
Successfully elected candidates serve for a two-year period.
