Judge praises accuracy of solicitor’s crime novel

A solicitor who is also a crime novelist found out that she had an ardent fan on the bench at Cork District Court recently.

Catherine Kirwan, author of crime novel Darkest Truth, was appearing in court as a solicitor when her novel got a five-star review from the judge.

Having granted her an adjournment application for her client, Judge Olann Kelleher then said: “Congratulations Ms Kirwan. I’ve just read your crime novel and it is excellent.”

The judge then remarked that he recognised a lot of local solicitors depicted in the crime novel’s characters.

Darkest Truth is the story of a solicitor asked by a man to investigate the death of his daughter because he does not accept the suicide verdict.

Darkest Truth is out now in paperback, both in Ireland and in Britain.

It is published by Arrow, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
