A recent Lawyers Against Homelessness CPD event raised a €23,575 for the Capuchin day centre for homeless people  in Bow Street  in the heart of Dublin’s legal quarter.

The cumulative sum raised by five separate Lawyers Against Homelessness events is now in excess of €110,000.

Solicitor-barrister collaboration

Lawyers Against Homelessness is a solicitor-barrister collaborative charity with 100% of all proceeds going directly to the work for the homeless at the Bow Street Capuchin Centre.

Brother Kevin Crowley, OFM Cap, of the day centre for the homeless, (pictured), has expressed his sincere gratitude to those involved.

“The success of this ongoing venture is testament to the hard work and dedication…that the team have shown since its inception,” he said.

Breakfasts

“We are currently providing, free of charge, over three hundred breakfasts and five hundred and fifty lunches on a daily basis, to the homeless and marginalised in our society, six days a week.

“Each week we distribute in the region of eighteen hundred food parcels. We also provide medical, dental, optical and personal hygiene facilities.”

Needy

Brother Crowley says that without the help of bodies such as Lawyers Against Homelessness, it would not be possible to continue to provide the same high standard of help and assistance to the most needy and vulnerable in Irish society.

The next Lawyers Against Homelessness event is on Thursday 27 June, from 3.30-7.30pm, and will be addressed by Chief Justice Frank Clarke.

Ten prominent legal speakers will give topical updates on legal matters and attendance yields four CPD points.

Themes to be covered include the Supreme Court, commercial law, personal injury litigation, defamation and corporate enforcement.
