The west’s awake to latest practitioner updates

The next Cluster Event takes place in Carrick-on-Shannon (pictured above) on 9-10 May and bookings are now open.

The Cluster Event is being run by Law Society Finuas Skillnet in association with Leitrim Bar Association, Roscommon Bar Association and Sligo Bar Association.

Opportunity

The aim and objectives of the day and half are to provide an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law of essential relevance to most in general practice.

On 9 May, the course will give an update on management, professional development and regulation, including the new rules on law firms and Limited Liability Partnerships and anti-money laundering legislation.

The agenda also includes how to draft a bill of costs to maximise profitability and avoid taxation and a talk on ‘Leading myself – tools for success’. The Courts Service  e-Licensing pilot will also be examined.

Updates

The 10 May agenda offers updates on conveyancing, landlord and tenant, probate, criminal law, cyber security and regulation.

Topics to be covered on the second day include probate essentials, current developments and issues including welfare claims, conveyancing essentials, termination of residential and commercial tenancies, a criminal law update including the new drink driving laws, cyber security risks for practitioners, and planning for cessation of practice.

Reception

An evening drinks reception offers practitioners the chance to meet nearby colleagues.

Attending the entire event delivers 10 CPD hours which will include three management and professional development skills, two regulatory matters (including two accounting and AML compliance) and five general CPD hours.
