Six new programmes have been added to the Law Society Diploma Centre’s autumn schedule.
- New courses aimed at developing greater knowledge and expertise across industries affected by recent legislation and regulation change
- Growing recognition of Diploma Centre’s importance at supporting Irish industry and international business competitiveness
- More than 35 courses now run annually – including online distance learning opportunities to meet the needs of busy or remote students
Six new programmes have been added to the Law Society of Ireland’s autumn schedule, ensuring the award-winning educational institution continues to provide a competitive and relevant offering for both the legal profession and a range of business professionals from across industry.
“We run more than 35 courses annually, engaging more than 3,500 professionals through our on-site and online educational programmes,” said Dr Freda Grealy, Head of Diploma Centre at the Law Society of Ireland.
“We were delighted this year to receive the ‘Service Provider to the Legal Profession’ award for a second successive year at the Irish Law Awards 2017. This award, amongst other things, recognised our ability to respond quickly to the evolving needs of the market – to stay relevant and ensure we provide a service that reflects what our clients need now and in coming years.”
“We have noticed a greater need to support legal professionals and business executives in various aspects of international business – for instance, half of the world’s fleet of leased aircraft is owned, leased, or managed in Ireland. The development of this industry led to the creation of our Diploma in Aviation Leasing and Finance, which is now one of our more popular courses.”
“Another area of growing interest is the rise of sports law, and the need for sports administrators and governing bodies to be fully aware of their legal responsibilities. Sport is an area where there is an obvious duty of care to athletes and players, and our Diploma in Sports Law in growing in participant numbers every year.”
This autumn six new courses are being launched:
“The development of new courses is directly related to demand or identified gaps in the market. We see our role as educators to the legal profession in Ireland, but also an education provided that supports the wider Irish corporate and public sectors.”
“Our courses also recognise the need to vary the way in which we deliver training, and where possible we adopt a blended learning approach of in-person and online education to make our programmes accessible to all.”
