Solicitor Advertising

On 18 December 2020, responsibility for the regulation of the advertising of legal practitioners, including solicitors, transferred from the Law Society to the Legal Services Regulatory Authority (‘the Authority’).

Pursuant to section 218 of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015, the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015 (Advertising) Regulations 2020 SI 644 of 2020 commenced on 18 December 2020.

The Authority is now responsible for regulating the advertising of legal services by legal practitioners, including the manner in which solicitors advertise their professional services.

The Society will now take the necessary steps to repeal the Solicitors Advertising Regulations 2019.

All queries in relation to the new regulatory regime should be made directly to the Authority, via email at LSRA-inbox@LSRA.ie.
