Suspicious email alert – 'Acuity Law'
Members of the profession may have received a suspicious email purporting to come from UK firm Acuity Law.
Email details
The email prompts the recipient to download a .zip file, presenting it as ‘initial documentation and draft contact. A copy of the email is below.
The email is a convincing attempt to mislead the recipient, with only a small change in the spelling of ‘Acuity’ in the sender email address.
Acuity Law, a legitimate firm with offices in England and Walsed has previously reported the sender to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), and has reported this new email.
Remain vigilant
Practitioners are reminded to exercise vigilance when sending or receiving information by email. Always check the sender against a reputable source (such as Find a Solicitor or the Law Directory) and exercise particular caution if an email is unexpected or prompts you to download a potentially malicious file.
