Diary date
Applications for the 2026 Practising Certificate (PC) Renewal close on Sunday, 1 February 2026. Completed applications, including payments, must be received by the Law Society by this date.
Contract update
The Law Society has published a new Combined Building Agreement / Contract for Sale 2026. It should be used for all new homes (houses and apartments) in residential estates on and after 1 February 2026 but can be used from 1 January 2026.
In-house boost
At the recent Future of Legal Practice Summit for trainees at the Law Society, Director General Mark Garrett, told trainees that the in-house sector was increasingly important, and soon expected to account for 30% of the profession.

Diploma in In-House Practice
Booking is now open to join the Diploma in In-House Practice starting on Tuesday 24 February 2026 at 6pm. This course is designed to provide in-house lawyers or aspiring in-house lawyers with a comprehensive understanding of the varied, challenging, and stimulating work that confronts those working in business and in the public sector.
AML webinar
The Law Society’s AML Unit is partnering with the State’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Revenue Commissioners to run a free webinar on 17 February at 2.30pm. Topics will include suspicious transactions and filing reports using the goAML portal.
