The Courts Service and the Judiciary have issued a reminder on safety measures at Court and court buildings.

Protecting colleagues

These measures are intended provide a safe environment for all court users, jurors and for all of those working across the courts estate during this phase of the pandemic. The Courts Service and Judiciary continue to monitor the changing situation and the measures in place are regularly under review.

In addition to basic safety measures, practitioners are asked to:

  1. agree in advance as many issues and as much evidence as possible in order to shorten hearings and avoid witnesses attending court unnecessarily,
  2. schedule consultations in relation to upcoming proceedings away from court premises in the days or weeks preceding the hearing date where possible, and
  3. avail of hybrid hearings in relation to witness cases where possible.
