Afghan Judges Speak

18/01/2023 11:16:00

The Afghan Justice Appeal invites colleagues to an event marking International Day of the Endangered Lawyer.

About the event

Three Afghan judges now living in Ireland have been invited to speak about their experiences of practising law in their home country and how the elimination of the rule of law there ultimately impeded not only their careers, but their safety and security too.
Barristers, Solicitors and those across civil society organisations and agencies are invited to attend. There will be a Q&A at the end of the event, as well as an update on the work of the Irish Afghan Appeal.

Chaired by The Hon. Ms. Justice Tara Burns, the event will also include contributions from Aoife O’Leary BL, Chair, Human Rights Committee and Claire Callanan, Solicitor and Co-ordinator of the Afghan Justice Appeal.
