Calcutta Run: €500,000 raised during pandemic

On Thursday 18 November 2021, President of the Law Society of Ireland, Michelle Ní Longáin met with Calcutta Run charity partners, Peter McVerry Trust and the Hope Foundation, at the annual cheque handover ceremony which took place at the Law Society, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7.

The solicitors’ profession has raised a staggering €500,000 for the Calcutta Run since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. This figure brings the total amount raised to €4.8 million to help fight homelessness in Dublin and Kolkata over the last 23 years. Organised by the Law Society of Ireland, the 23rd annual Calcutta Run took place virtually for the second time this year from 17 September to 26 September.
