YMC Information Sessions Continue

The autumn series of Career Information Sessions, organised by the Younger Members Committee, are underway with sessions going ahead every Tuesday evening for the next several weeks.

The first session in this autumn series (with Flor McCarthy as guest) has taken place, but sessions continue every Tuesday evening and start at 7 pm. These sessions have a short time duration – less than 30 minutes – with the event over by 7.30 pm.

Next Tuesday’s session is expected to be a particularly worthwhile event – with Fiona McKeever joining as the expert guest and talking about ‘Managing Your Career’.

Fiona is uniquely placed to advise solicitors on managing their careers as they start off and progress through their life. Before establishing an Executive and Leadership Coaching consultancy, Fiona was Partner in Arthur Cox for 12 years.

During her final five years as Partner in Arthur Cox, Fiona was responsible for professional development within the firm. She initiated a range of career and personal development programmes for lawyers at all stages of their careers, from trainee through to senior partner.

Fiona plans to cover a wide range of matters next Tuesday,  including:

  • The importance of making time to manage your career;
  • Auditing your skills, knowledge and interests and creating action plans;
  • Skills to develop as your career progresses.

You can attend Fiona’s information session free of charge, but you need to reserve a place in advance. You can do that here.

On the following Tuesday evening, 26 October, Jean Evans will be guest and will talk about ‘Networking Skills’ and tactics you can adopt to improve at building collaboration and getting the best from your relationships. You can reserve a place at Joan’s session on networking here.

On Tuesday, 2 November, Alana Fearon will be guest and will outline how solicitors can use social media to improve their effectiveness across a whole range of activities including job-seeking, personal brand management, marketing a law firm, and establishing strategic involvements. You can reserve a place at Alana’s information session on social media here.
