Solicitor Mary Morrissey appointed to Circuit Court

President Michael D Higgins has appointed Ms Justice Teresa Pilkington of the High Court, as a judge of the Court of Appeal with effect from 17 September, 2020. 

And solicitor Mary Morrissey has been appointed as a judge of the Circuit Court with effect from 18 September.

Justice Morrissey was educated at National University of Ireland Galway and the Law Society.

She qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and won accreditation with distinction in mediation in January 2014.

Judicial Appointments Advisory Board 

The nominations follow recommendation by the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board (JAAB), which is chaired by the Chief Justice Frank Clarke.

The vacancy in the Circuit Court arose following the passing of Judge John Hannan on 21 February, this year.
