Film probes lawyer’s role in Guantanamo case

Academy-award winner Kevin McDonald has a new film The Mauritanian which will be virtually screened tomorrow night at 7.15pm (23 March).

Starring Jodie Foster and Benedict Cumberbatch, the film is based on a true story of US lawyer Nancy Hollander, who has also worked in European Courts, including in Ireland.

Injustices

The film centres on injustices at Guantanamo and the importance of fearless and ethical representation.

Hollander says she took on the case  in order to defend the rule of law.

The filmmakers are extending an invitation to Irish audiences to view the film online.

There is also a Q&A afterwards with the people at the coal face.

Those interested in watching the film should RSVP immediately.
