Brown Thomas and Arnotts form new legal entity

Iconic Dublin department stores Brown Thomas and Arnotts will together form a new legal entity from 7 December, to be called Brown Thomas Arnotts Ltd.

In 2015, Arnotts was acquired by the Selfridges Group, which also owns Brown Thomas.

The Selfridges Group intends to retain both as separate brands and retail offers over the coming years, according to a letter to loyalty card holders this week.

Leverage

The new legal entity “will continue to leverage excellence in operations” the letter continues.

The Selfridges Group also owns the Holt Renfrew stores in Canada, Selfridges in the UK, and de Bijenkorf in the Netherlands.

Brown Thomas runs stores in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick under the Brown Thomas and BT2 brands.

In August, the department stores jointly sought 150 staff redundancies due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
