Bar of Ireland Green Street lecture series announced
A short lecture series from the Law Library will explore the intersection between law, history and literature.
The Bar of Ireland’s Green Street Lecture Series will start on 22 April and seeks to build an understanding of how national figures have both been shaped by, and have shaped the law in Ireland.
The lecture series will feature talks on a range of luminaries from Irish legal history.
Landmark cases
Revisiting landmark cases and their lasting impact, the lectures will be delivered by some of Ireland’s most prominent legal figures.
The three lectures will be delivered by pre-eminent barristers passionate about their respective themes.
They are:
- Lecture 1: 'The tables of the law, graven in the language of the outlaw – John Francis Taylor’s speech at the King’s Inns in 1901 and Ulysses' – Frank Callanan SC, Thursday, 22 April, 5-6pm,
- Lecture 2: 'From Rogues to Role Models for Equality Law – Evolution of Employment Equality Law in Ireland' – Marguerite Bolger SC, Thursday, 6 May, 5-6pm,
- Lecture 3: "‘Yous have no merit, no merit at all', Trial and Error of Patrick Kavanagh" – John O’Donnell SC, Thursday, 13 May, 5-6pm.
These online public lectures are open to all, and single registration applies for all three talks.
