Two solicitors to be made District Court judges

The Government has agreed to nominate solicitors Máire Conneely and Brendan O’Reilly for appointment as ordinary judges of the District Court.

Two vacancies arose in the District Court following the retirements of Judge Patrick Durcan on 15 May, and Judge Terence JW Finn on 9 June.

 

The Government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.

Meanwhile,J udge Carol Anne Coolican has been assigned to District 13 (Co Limerick) and Judge Brian O’Shea assigned to District 21 (Cork, Tipperary and Waterford).

The changes took effect on 13 July.
