Discussion
The talk will be followed by a panel discussion with the Chief Justice Frank Clarke, Judge Ann Power of the Constituent Court of the Kosovo Specialist Chamber and former judge of the ECHR, and barrister Dr Alan DP Brady.
The events start at 6pm and formalities will be followed by a drinks reception. CPD points are awarded for attendance.
Meanwhile, on Friday 22 February at the Law Society, Judge Liz Goldthorpe will deliver the 2019 Spring Discourse on the subject of Averil Deverell BL (pictured above).
Averil Deverell was the second woman called to the Bar of Ireland and the first to practice in the Republic.
She went to the Law Library to practise in January 1922, and remained in practice until her retirement in 1969.
First female law graduate
She was among the first group of women graduates from Trinity College, obtaining her law degree in 1915.
Averil Deverell died in 1979 and in her will left a bequest setting up a lectureship in the Law School of Trinity College.

The Spring Discourse is hosted by the Irish Legal History Society and begins at 5.30pm in the Education Centre at Blackhall Place.
