Services picked up in June, says CSO

The value of services, including those in the legal sector, continued to pick up in June after slumping in April due to the impact of COVID-19. Most sectors are still, however, below February’s pre-pandemic level.

Official figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that the value of services rose by 15% in June compared with May. There had been a 23% drop during April.

Professional sector

Services, however, were still almost 10% lower in value compared with June 2019.

The professional, scientific and technical activities category, which includes the legal sector, recorded one of the largest monthly increases of 16.8% in June. The value of services in the sector, however, is still down 14.5% compared with the same month last year.
