Senior sports law figures to speak at conference

The Sports Law Bar Association has confirmed its annual conference for 6 December which has the theme ‘Breaking the rules – discipline and governance in sport’.

The conference runs from 14.30-17.30 at the Gaffney Room in the Distillery Building, Church Street in Dublin 7.

Speakers include:

  • Mr Justice David Barniville (pictured),
  • Cliodhna Guy, horse racing regulatory board,
  • Yvonne Nolan, senior legal counsel World Rugby,
  • Malcolm O’Kelly, Leinster, Ireland, and British and Irish Lions,
  • Christopher Quinlan, World Rugby judicial panel chair (unconfirmed),
  • Sylvia Schenk, FIFA ethics committee,
  • Mark Tighe, Sunday Times journalist,
  • Michael Collins SC,
  • Paul McGarry SC,
  • John O’Donnell SC,
  • Susan Ahern BL.

The conference will be followed by drinks at the Sheds bar in the Distillery Building.

Attendance yields three CPD points and the conference will be preceded at 13.30 by the 2019 agm of the Sports Law Bar Association.
