RSA seeks tenders for prosecution services

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is seeking tenders for the provision of prosecution services.

The body is aiming to set up a framework, in which those chosen would provide a range of legal services.

The framework will have 26 lots (one per county), with the top three scoring tenderers in respect of each lot admitted to the framework.

The work involved includes:

  • Processing cases at District Court level, in relation to prosecutions and other court actions that the RSA is, or may become, authorised to bring – including in relation to enforcement of road transport and commercial vehicle roadworthiness legislation,
  • Processing applications in the District Court for the mutual recognition of driving disqualifications,
  • Representing the RSA at cases which may be subject to appeal in the courts system,
  • Representing the RSA in appeals to the District Court by driver-test candidates,
  • Obtaining District Court warrants to enable access to premises for the purposes of exercising a power by transport officers or authorised officers or commercial vehicle roadworthiness (CVR) inspectors, and,
  • Prosecutions under section 18 of the Road Traffic Act 1968 (control of driving instruction).

Any agreement resulting from this competition will be for 48 months, with options to extend up to a total duration of 96 months.

The deadline for tenders is 5pm on 8 September.
