Play therapists drilled on legal parameters of work

Members of the Irish Play Therapy Association from all over Ireland were drilled in the legal parameters of their work this week.

At the body’s AGM, at Little Island in Cork on Sunday, lawyer Denise Kirwan, partner at Comyn, Kelleher, Tobin, spoke at length about the Child Care Act 1991, the Criminal Justice (Victims of Crime) Act 2017, the changes in the law relating to disclosure of counselling records introduced by the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017, amongst other topics.

Welfare

The paramount nature of children’s welfare throughout the various court processes was the theme for the afternoon seminar.
