Online appointments only for various court offices

From 23 August, court users must make an appointment in advance to visit the following offices:

  • Central Office of the High Court,
  • Dublin District Family Law Office,
  • Limerick Court Office – civil and family.

The initiative is part of a pilot programme from the Courts Service, and relates to the three listed offices only.

Over the course of the pandemic, many court offices have been operating an appointment-only system for clients wishing to issue non-urgent proceedings.

This has been a heavily labour-intensive process, with appointments only set up after multiple email exchanges, and phone calls from Court Service staff to court users.

The move is planned to better manage resources and improve services.

Pilot

This new system will allow relevant users to book an appointment to the pilot court offices via www.courts.ie/appointments

An appointment may be made at a suitable time – from a PC, smart-phone or tablet – and will require a valid email address.

An email confirming the booking will then issue.

If users cannot attend the appointment, they are asked to cancel the booking as soon as possible to accommodate other users.
