10 Jan 2019 / home affairs Print

Labour Court is to probe electrical contracting sector

The electrical contracting sector is to be probed by the Labour Court under section 14 of the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act 2015.

Section 14 allows the Labour Court to be requested to examine the terms and conditions in relation to pay, sick pay and pension rights of a group of workers.

Employment Order

The upshot could be a Labour Court recommendation for a Sectoral Employment Order providing for legally enforceable minimum terms and conditions of employment in the sector.

Written submissions are invited before the close-of-business deadline on 6 February.

Submissions can be posted to the secretary, Labour Court, Lansdowne House, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4, or e-mailed to info@labourcourt.ie

The court has made clear that representations received after that date shall not be considered.

Hearings

Oral hearings will be held after the deadline.
