Irish women lawyers take Europe awards

Several Irish lawyers were honoured at the Women in Business Law Awards 2021 ceremony yesterday (24 June).

The awards celebrate the efforts and achievements of law firms across Europe in helping women to advance in the legal profession, and spotlight the most impressive achievements by women lawyers.

Maples Group took two awards, with Donna Ager (main picture) winning in the 'Aviation Lawyer of the Year' category, and Vanessa Lawlor (small picture) taking the 'Finance Rising Star' award.

Eversheds Sutherland partners also took home two awards. Marie McGinley was 'Technology, Media, & Telecommunication Lawyer of the Year’, and Deborah Hutton took the award in the ‘Financial Regulation Lawyer of the Year’ category.

Arthur Cox partner Joanelle O Cleirigh was ‘Litigation Lawyer of the Year’. The company also took the ‘Firm of the Year’ award for Ireland, and was also a winner in the ‘Minority Women Lawyer — National Firm’ category.

Matheson’s Emma Doherty, a partner in its corporate and commercial department, won the ‘Corporate Governance Lawyer of the Year’ award.

Clare Carroll of McCann Fitzgerald was named ‘Litigation Rising Star’.
