IHREC sets out stall

The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC) has set out its four strategic priorities for the next two years.

Protection of the rights of those who face the greatest barriers to justice is at the top of the agenda.

Influence legislation

Its second aim is to influence legislation, policy and practice. The third priority is to engage with key organisations to address discrimination and human rights abuses.

Finally, IHREC wishes to “raise the quality and broaden the extent of the dialogue on human rights and equality issues”.

The Commission will also focus on promoting access to justice; advancing socio-economic rights in the areas of housing, health and decent work; fighting racism and promoting intercultural understanding; and disability rights.
